This was my setup and painting, so much fun going alla prima!

Sneak Peek of Spring on the Eisel

I am so ready for Spring!  

With our new works show coming up in May I felt like 

a Spring flower was just the thing to paint...now I have to admit

MY daisy's are still in the ground and I'm not going to tell where I got this one from.

Having never attempted painting cut glass, 

I found it kind of fun to do.

The reflections are fragmented, and I think it looks interesting.

"Good Morning"

This painting should be called "Mikes Morning Ritual"

 because it really is! 

 My step-son Mike, is a certified coffee nut, I mean guru, ha ha sorry Mike. 

 I do admit he himself makes an amazing cup of coffee

 from his favorite brand called Ritual.  He has all these gadgets for measuring, grinding, timing and POURING thee PERFECT cup.  If you want to sneak in creamer, forget it!!  NOT allowed!  Once you taste coffee prepared this way called a pour- over, it is clear as to why creamer is a no no.  

While visiting him in NYC this summer, Mike took my husband and I to his favorite coffee shop called Sweetleaf in Long Island City.  This was my little shot of espresso and sparkling water...I forgot why we had the water,  probably just to clear the pallette, so please forgive me,  I am still in coffee training.

This painting was also submitted to the Daily Paintworks challenge Paint your Mug.  It was why I took the photo in the first place!  cards & print are available by contacting me.  

A Pear

I painted this one in the Fall from a still life set up in my
"studio"...uh hem kitchen.
 I really wanted to paint something for the New Year but the truth is,  I need some inspiration, motivation, inclination and all that.
SO( a pear antly) this girl needs a trip to a museum soon!

Trying Watercolors During Sandy

These are my attempt  at using watercolors.  Last year I bought a watercolor kit and am just now getting around to playing with it. The paper is Arches 140lb coldpress (which I have no idea what that really means) and the paints are liquid Rembrandt.  What I found was that the paper really makes a difference, because I had some other (apparently less quality) and the Arches worked much better.

Inspiration came from an  Art Tutorial on the  Daily Paintworks  site showing a mini demo on how to make these drops by Barbara Fox.  Check it out!     DPW is also hosting a 

Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser, by purchasing donated artwork.  

I got a little brave and  tried to paint this  Rosemary plant that was brought inside  from the monster storm.  Usually  I paint in oils and some acrylics, so this was definately a different medium to play with.

My little story behind it goes like this:

Last Fall I got a new puppy named Daisy.  Well Miss Daisy likes to chew on things.  

While I was busy painting, she kept bringing sticks inside the house, via

her doggy door.  I had to keep taking them away, and before I knew it there was a 

pile of sticks next to the easel.  As I started painting the nest I thought hmmm these sticks

might be interesting to create the nest ...after wrecking my fingers wiring them into the canvas and adding clouds made from husbands (old) Chesapeake Bay charts all was done.  

 Now you have the tale of my inspiration.   Thanks Miss Daisy!

Abbey Ryan Workshop at AOY

Painting again at the Artist's of Yardley (AOY) farmhouse in Pennsylvania 

 10 of us had the pleasure of painting with Abbey Ryan for 2 day's.  Each morning we watched her create a demo painting.  It's amazing watching them come to life right before our eyes. Then we set up our own still lifes wherever we chose in any of the rooms.  2 ladies were even in the kitchen!  

Above is my attempt at a garlic clove and asparagus....not so easy to do, and after painstakinly painting them,  Abbey say's "you painted 2 out of the 3 most difficult vegetables to paint! "

Here is yet another crab pot buoy painted from photo while we were sailing last fall in the Chesapeake Bay.  The colors on this one were so vibrant! It was the same day as the little bird below...with no wind it was bad for sailing but excellent for shots and nice reflections on the water.

On a sort of side note my "Bird on a Buoy" got juried in the Annapolis Arts Alliance show going on now at the Maritime Museum, Annapolis through May 18.
